Too much – just bring the favorite. Good luck and have a great day.
Every wine has a peak, when it is the best it can possibly be, but then it starts to turn. If you don’t drink it after that point every day it gets worse and it eventually turns to vinigar. This said, I don’t know the peak time for drinking that paticular wine. It does have an excellent rating though. Enjoy it.
i would bring the wine. it is a nice gesture to the party givers. They do not have to open it and serve it if they do not want to that is proper ettiquette. It is a gift for the host/hostess even if they are your BF parents.either the prosecco or the pinot grigio is fine. I would personally bring the dad’s fave. it shows you are paying attention to what they like.
It’s not too much. Take both bottles.
Used to be a big fan of Yellowtail Shiraz until I tried JackaRoo Shiraz and Big Red or Wishing Tree Shiraz. I think Wishing Tree is some of the best and very reasonable at about $15/bottle.For white, I would have to go with Cline’s Pinot Gris and Chardonnay blend.I’m with you on the Chianti…or a good Sangiovese. Goes great with red sauces and pasta. For Merlot…..and I don’t typically like Merlot….I opt for Barefoot. Good gosh, this stuff is CHEAP, but it is SO good.Lastly, one of my favorite Zinfandels would be Rancho Zabaco’s Sonoma Heritage. Good stuff.
Straight at room temp as an after dinner drink. That is the Italian tradition.Grappa is a distilled spirit made from the must of the wine-making process. Another similar spirit is cognac, which is made from Champagne grapes. The big difference is that cognac gets aged in barrels to give an amber color while grappa is usually kept clear. Some tasting notes on the Banfi:Banfi Grappa Montalcino 90 PTS GOLD MEDAL BEVERAGE TESTING INSTITUTE. A premium Grappa produced from the grape skins of the Brunello di Montalcino. Dry and austere with a penetrating, clean finish. Here’s a site with raving reviews of the beverage:http://www.banfivintners.com/show/xmlsite/xml-standard.xml/xsl-banfivintnersFreviews.xsl/start_id-foclopihjjcfnccjmanenobolchglikjleponcnn/j
I may be wrong, but the sugar content nullifies the benefits of the anti-oxidants when you’re talking about sparkling sweet, I believe.
I am an IBM (Italian by marriage) and I have never known a member of my husband’s family to turn down a bottle of wine. If your boyfriend’s dad is anything like my father in law, he will ask why you didn’t bring any for anyone else–because he wants the whole bottle! To answer your question, it is completely appropriate.
It’s the name (Banfi) of an Italian High School or College.
