Grow My Hair Long

PLEASE HELP. what should i do to my hair?
Hey. My hair is very thick and coily. its any afro. to show u a picture of how it looks like:http://images44.fotki.com/v1448/photos/0/1070710/7335558/P3160154-vi.jpg maybe a little less thick. But yh thats how my hair is. i used to get relaxers but there really damaging. they have chemicals in them which u use in a science lab…. and is linked to brain cancer. i havent relaxed in like a year. ive been plaiting it and stuff. but im getting really bored now. i want something different. my natural hair has grown out like 6 inches… which a few straight ends which i havent cut of yet. but yh ive been really discouraged about my hair recently. it hurts when u comb it etc. and its kinda scarry. the thought of having to care for it so much.
