Based on this excerpt, does this sound like it could turn into a teen/sex/romance novel?
The question is pretty self explanatory. Sorry if it’s a little explicit.The obsession started with a diaphragm. I’m not going to lie: this story isn’t very pretty and it doesn’t end well. What it is, is whacky and moronic and probably pretty disgusting. We were seven when we found it.“What is it?” Lacey asked in such an innocent tone that it was almost pathetic instead of endearing. Her blond hair was styled into pigtails and she looked the perfect image of virtue. A thin pout was put on her face.Jamie rolled her eyes. “God, Lacey, do you have to so…babie-ish?” she said rhetorically, “It’s a dia…phra…gum. It’s so you can keep things from going into your mouth.” Without a second thought, she stuck the inanimate rubber-like stopper into her mouth and stretched the fabric over her teeth, her auburn hair flying wildly as she stuck her face towards Lacey’s.I tried to keep from laughing. I’d learned what it was when I was five, when my mother had told Hair Fibers Auburn me pretty much everything I knew about sex, even now that I’m nineteen. A giggle escaped my throat despite my efforts. Jamie rolled her tongue to let the diaphragm out of her mouth, like a piece of gum, and looked at me incredulously. “So, you think it’s something else?” I could tell from her eyes that she didn’t know what the hell she was talking about, and her confidence faltered.“Yes, but you wouldn’t understand it if I even decided to tell you.” The truth was, I was a little bit embarrassed to explain it. I hadn’t realized that until later, but that was why I’d said that.“Ugh. You’re such b.” Instead of saying “bitch,” which we weren’t allowed to say, we’d say “b.”Lacey looked down at the carpet in her mother’s bedroom, where they were gathered around the small object in a triangle. “I was just curious, .”I sighed, like it was some big hassle for me to tell them. “Okay, fine, it keeps the sperm from making a baby when adults have sex.”The others both made faces, while I blushed. I may have been the most educated on this subject, but I was definitely not the most outgoing about it. Jamie would take that job. She was the most outgoing about all of us. Even if she acted pompous half the time, the other half she was nice. Part of our friendship, though, was just about the knowing each other part.Lacey could’ve broken out in hives by the look on her face. She scooted further away from the diaphragm like it was poison. “That…thing…was in my mother’s…?”“And it’s called a diaphragm,” I added.For once, Jamie was speechless. She looked down, now in the same position as Lacey. In that moment, I felt like I was the center of attention, and I didn’t like it. That’s why I joined them, looking down at those puffy white fibers that had just been cleaned.MishMash, this is not supposed to be taken seriously. It’s a comedy. It’s going to turn into a comedy.
