Complementing guidelines on ReGrowth Treatment Extra
I may not have used it long enough (2 months), but I shaved my head and embraced the baldness! LOL!
Help with color correction? Cosmetology student here!?
Last night at work, one of my managers came up to me and asked if I would do her hair. (I’m a cosmetology student who takes boards in May). I asked her what she wanted done, and she said that she wanted highlights all throughout her hair, and had already bought a frosting kit for me to use. I told her that I couldn’t highlight her hair in its current state… she has about three inches of dark (slightly reddish) blonde regrowth, and the rest of her shoulder length hair has been colored jet black. I told her that if I attempted to highlight her hair, the regrowth would process much quicker than the strands that were dyed black.So, we formulated a plan: I would strip the black from her hair, recolor it, then ReGrowth Treatment Extra add highlights. I plan on using extra strength Color Oops to remove the black (I’ve used this product on my own color mistakes with EXCELLENT, non-damaging results). To recolor her hair, I plan on using either a light golden brown or a dark golden blonde permanent color with a 20 volume developer. Then, after using a deep conditioning treatment, I plan on pulling her hair through the cap and giving her fine highlights throughout her hair, then doing another conditioning treatment and styling as usual.Like I said, I’m a cosmetology student (not to mention I have been coloring and highlighting my own hair for the past seven years with no noticeable damage)… so I have a grasp on what I am doing. I’ve never had to do anything like this though, and I want to make sure I do it right.1. I want to do all three services in one day. Is this possible, or should I recolor her hair and then wait a couple weeks to do highlights? Like I said, her hair is pretty healthy, and I plan on doing deep conditioning treatments to insure that it remains healthy.2. Would 20 volume be the best choice when recoloring?3. When I apply the color, I plan on coloring her regrowth first, then putting it all over. I know the ends will be more porous than before, where I’m gonna be removing color.4. Should I use any fillers or additives in the color? I was thinking it would be a great idea… can someone recommend one?Any advice or product recommendations would be GREAT, by the way! I have a feeling this will be a GREAT learning experience.
