Negative friend–how to make her happy?
I have a very good girl friend. She is a little heavy-set. but has a beautiful face, beautiful eyes and gorgeous hair. She is so sweet and childlike sometimes, but then sometimes she can get very sassy and in your face. She is a perfect combo of fantastic personality traits. All of her friends adore her. I love hanging out with her. Most of the time. Her only problem is that she is extremely negative. She sees the glass half empty and then some. She sees all cloud and no silver lining. She was engaged to a guy much older than her a couple of years ago, and he broke up with her. I dont know why. Then Dan, a junior in college, swept her off her feet the summer before her freshman year of college. So they’re about 3 years apart. They dated all summer and she was extremely happy. Then he fell in love with one of our friends, a senior girl named Rachel. And even though Rachel wouldnt date him and wasnt at all interested, he broke up with my negative friend. She was devestated. When I first met her, they had just broken up and I spent a good deal of my time trying to make her happy. Then she met a sophomore boy, who she fell for and that took her mind off dan. but soph boy played her and used her and broke her heart again. instead of moving on she went back to dan, who doesnt like her like that anymore….and now shes back on soph boy even though she knows he’s just using her…and now she’s nothing but negative and wont listen to anyone and thinks the whole world hates her. i am at a loss and dont know what to say to her or do to help.any suggestions? please help!
